Wicklow Street Guitars rules. As a professional musician I ended up doing a lot of my own guitar mods/repairs over the years but I'm not good at it. Back in my home town there were some guitar techs/luthiers that I could trust but that was back in the day. I've been in Winnipeg for a few decades now and have wished for someone like Gary at Wicklow Street Guitars. Well I finally have found the man and am part way through bringing my whole guitar collection to him one at a time for the once over. Of note is the fret job and resolving the twisted neck/bridge install with a vintage Wonderbar bridge on my beloved Sterling SX20. Then there is my 1959 modded Gibson Melody Maker which Gary brought back to life. The list goes on, there are many more guitars and I will trust each of them to Gary and his quality workmanship.

Gary makes awesome guitars oozing with mojo and dark vibe. My Wicklow mojocaster is feather light and resonant making it ring like a bell. Great customer service also a great guy to deal with. You won't be disappointed in his instruments.

I met Gary at the Manitoba Guitar Traders show and was impressed with his Wicklow Street guitar builds and their playability, the action was super low. I contacted Gary and set up a time to bring in my Fender lap steel and Sire L7 Les Paul.

He repaired my Fender lap steel output jack and cleaned the pots. No more crackle noise when playing through an amp. He did a setup on my Sire L7. I've been using 10 to 46 gauge strings for 40 years and requested 9 to 42’s and lower action.

I am super happy with the improved playability after the setup.

I was also surprised that the work was done in 4 days at a great price .

I highly recommend Gary at Wickow Street guitars for great service.

I’ve known Gary for over 40 years starting when we worked together in the service dept of Yamaha Music. His high level of integrity and attention to detail is impressive. Whether working on home renovation projects, muscle cars, or guitar & electronics projects. He has high standards for quality with a serious vision. I look forward to seeing more of his unique guitar creations.
